Talking about innovation – tell us how Upkip was born?

Upkip is the result of solid, industry expertise, built over the years in manufacturing. Working as a technology provider in several forward-thinking manufacturers, we have been accumulating valuable insights and powerful knowledge about the real internal challenges, practical needs, and future vision of our clients. Upkip was built as an enabler to solve these challenges, cover the needs, and facilitate the achievement of the vision.

So, what is Upkip?

It is a cloud-based, industrial IoT solution for manufacturers of all sizes that boosts productivity with powerful analytics in a pay-as-you-go package. It optimizes the factory capacity for production by keeping track on orders, machine and process effectiveness, and multiple other factors. There are many features to benefit from.

How did you decide the give a “separate” life for Upkip, beyond ICB?

As a product, fully SaaS-based, Upkip requires a completely different marketing and sales approach. It was imperative to put it outside of ICB´s context to be serious about the market development.

So, what is the role of CoMantis in pursuing the “new life” of Upkip?

When you create something, it is impossible to see it from the outside, unless external help comes in place. For us, engaging with CoMantis was to get the perfect sparring partner. The external challenger that stress-tested our digital marketing hypothesis, web, and offline content, and sales strategy.

Any details on the experience, value of service, insights, etc.?

In the beginning, the focus was on quickly analyzing what we had already created, providing constructive feedback, and advising on the areas for improvement. CoMantis did a great job in deep diving, understanding, and further tailoring aspects that we already had as “finalized”. Moreover, they did a great job at adapting to our hectic schedule, complementing, rather than disrupting and overwhelming it.

Once the website was ready for promotion, CoMantis team participated closely in the sales and marketing operations of ICB. Despite lacking solid knowledge in the manufacturing domain, their consultants quickly grasped what was necessary to start engaging efficiently with decision-makers from the target industries.

Overall, our external partner touched in a very efficient way aspects of:

The platform has a huge potential, and we have identified the need for boosting its development. Currently, ICB is exploring investment opportunities and looking for the right partner that would not only invest money but know-how and passion.
